The School of Congregational Development (SCD) is a premier event designed to equip both ordained and lay United Methodist leaders to create vital, dynamic, life-changing congregations. Sponsored by Discipleship Ministries, the General Board of Global Ministries, and Path 1, this year’s event is being hosted by the North Georgia Annual Conference, Candler School of Theology, and Gammon Theological Seminary.
As a participant in SCD 2017, you will have a great opportunity to learn, network, and be spiritually renewed. Our leaders have hands-on experience leading ministries through transformation and growth.

Early Bird (register by April 30, 2017): $325
Regular (register by July 15, 2017): $375
Late/On-Site (register after July 15, 2017): $425
Seminary Students: $175
Fulltime seminary students are invited to take advantage of the seminary student discount when they register. Please note that Doctor of Ministry Students are not eligible for this discount.
A $50 cancellation fee will be charged for all cancellations made after July 14.
Registration includes event materials and full participation in all activities from 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 17, to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 19. Participants are also encouraged to attend worship on Sunday at a local church in Atlanta.
A box lunch on Friday and Saturday is included. Participants are responsible for their own travel, lodging, and other meals not provided by the event.

Spouses of participants can attend at a discounted fee of $200. Participants may add their spouses when they register for the event.
Special Event—An Evening with Nadia Bolz-Weber:
Those who are unable to attend the entire event are still invited to attend a special keynote presentation by pastor and author Nadia Bolz-Weber on Thursday, August 17, from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m.. Cost is $10, and tickets may be purchased here.
Those who register as full participants do NOT need to sign up or pay for this event separately.
SCD 2017 Scholarships
Three types of scholarships are available to SCD participants. Applicants can apply for only one of these choices, so please select the option that best fits your needs and situation.
- Racial Ethic Scholarships from Global Ministries
- Small Church Scholarship from Global Ministries for churches with an average of less than 150 people attending worship
- Southeastern Jurisdiction scholarships for pastors who have less than 10 years in service and who have less than 300 people attending worship

CEU certificates will be given to participants in their registration packets.
